An exclusive wedding in the heart of Florence

It was definitely the wedding planned with the shortest notice: in just 10 days, I miraculously managed to save this wedding, much to the delight of the bride and groom and, as you can imagine, both families.

Vittoria and David, Americans with families of Italian origin, had planned to get married a few years earlier, but due to Covid and other obstacles, they had to reluctantly postpone the happy event. Until, following a recent trip to Italy, they decided to say “I do” in a destination wedding in the setting of the Bel Paese and in the city of art par excellence: Florence.

The dream finally seemed to be coming true. The date and venue had been set, accommodation and flights booked, all that remained was to organize the wedding and, most importantly, the paperwork for the religious ceremony. The welcome aperitif, set up on the roof of the villa, greeted the newly arrived guests with appetizers, sparkling wine, and a breathtaking view of Florence!

But the day is still long and Florence is waiting to be discovered. What could be better than dinner before the big day at Harry’s Bar in Sina Villa Medici? Harry’s Bar Florence needs no introduction. In almost seventy years of history, the entire international jet set has passed through here, against the backdrop of Florentine Dolce Vita.

It may seem superfluous to say, but the ceremony was beautiful, intimate yet elegant, celebrated in the Church of Santi Apostoli, one of the most evocative churches in Florence, which has largely retained its early medieval interior. The building was constructed in the 11th century in Florentine Romanesque style, in an area that was then outside the city walls and has been preserved over time. The nave of the small church was decorated with white flowers and shades of pink. A truly refined, classic, and romantic atmosphere that continued in the villa with a passing aperitif accompanied by the sweet melodies of violins and double bass.

Villa Cora, an exclusive luxury hotel designed in the late 19th century by renowned architect Pietro Camparini, hosted the wedding reception. The residence is characterized by a variety of artistic styles, sumptuous and sometimes eccentric, but which leave guests amazed by its timeless elegance.

The seated dinner, also accompanied by the string quartet as was the aperitif, was held in the hall of mirrors, where an imperial table was set with flowers and candles and where attention to detail was of the highest order. The play of lights and flowers was reflected in the mirrors all around, multiplying and emphasizing the beauty of the atmosphere. The newlyweds’ dance was preceded by speeches, partly in English and partly in Italian, which moved everyone present.

For the cake cutting, we returned to the garden where spectacular fireworks had been set up for guests to admire from the villa’s balcony. Immediately afterwards came the most enjoyable part of the wedding: open bar, music, dancing, midnight pizza, and Chantilly cream desserts. Can you imagine anything more perfect?
